Welcome to the Outdoor Swimming Society's Wild Swim map

Dots on this map represent great, wild swims submitted by our members.

Hover your mouse over a dot to get a place name, or click on it for a more detailed description.

If you would like to add your own dip, swim or splash then, using then email the information to:

map@outdoorswimmingsociety.com

Information to include

Location of the swim, and preferably a nearby settlement of significant size so that a particularly remote swim can be found easily by the map team.

An Ordnance Survey or other geographical reference helps us and our fellow OSS members greatly, but if you cannot provide this, other reference points will help. Try to be as specific as you can.

Include some words on why you like this swim, how you discovered it  or anything else that you would like to share regarding the swim. Also include any potential hazards such as strong currents, wildlilfe, boats, rocks and shallows etc.

If you do not wish your name to be included as part of the entry let us know. While we never publish email addresses or other personal details on the website, having a contact email address is useful if we need to clarify any specifics of your entry, but also to let you know when the swim is published.

Pictures are always welcome, but please limit to one or two that you think best sum up the swim location itself.

Important, Please Read

By undertaking or participating in any swims connected with the OSS or this site, you confirm that you have read and accepted our 'Swim Responsibility Statement' (towards the bottom of this page).

Swimming outdoors has risks - please read the section on safety advice see: 'Safe Swimming Outdoors

Swim Considerately

While swimming, please be courteous and considerate to other land and water users. Wild swimmers everywhere will benefit if you are non-confrontational and polite.

Do not litter, trespass, pollute provoke conflict with others.

Use tact where appropriate  - e.g. Skinny Dipping only where you feel sure of not being seen or offending anyone.

The Outdoor Swimming Society's 'Swim Responsibility Statement':

The Outdoor Swimming Society is not able to assume legal responsibility to its members or others.

While we are always keen to share our passion for outdoor swimming, all swimmers must be solely responsible for making their own assessment as to the risks involved in any particular swim.

Swims arranged by members of the Outdoor Swimming Society are not led or supervised by qualified individuals and no insurance is in place.

The Outdoor Swimming Society itself has no control or influence over those who arrange "Outdoor Swimming Society social swims".  The decision to participate in any swim must therefore be taken individually, and swimmers must not rely (in whole or in part) on views or information provided by the Outdoor Swimming Society and/or its members.   If you are in any doubt about the safety of a swim or your ability to complete it, you should not take part.

Further, to the maximum extent permitted by law:

(a) the Outdoor Swimming Society;

(b) each individual acting on behalf of the Outdoor Swimming Society; and

(c) any person involved in organising an Outdoor Swimming Society social swim,

exclude any liability for personal injury, death or other harm or loss to its members or any other person or organisation as a result of their negligence or other breach of legal duty.

Please see 'swimming tips' for further advice on :

  • Risks inherent in outdoor swimming
  • Precautions to be taken before and during an outdoor swim.

Happy swimming!
