Humber Bridge Swim: Barton-on-Humber to Hessle Foreshore
Adverse comments about swimming the Humber meant there were plenty of nerves for this swim.
Local opinion holds that it is un-swimmable, but races were held here in the 'olden days'. The river looks beautiful and the bridge iconic as we enter the muddy waters. Four large ships cross our swimming lane as we swim out and under the bridge to enjoy the great belly-view of the span crossing.
Clearance from the coast-guard, harbour master, Humber rescue and the emergency services, first and detailed planning of tides.
