Clear Access, Clear Waters website launched
09th January, 2020
British Canoeing has launched a brand new website to support its groundbreaking campaign, Clear Access, Clear Waters, making it easier for all water users to get behind its ambition for fair, shared, sustainable open access.
The website, clearaccessclearwaters.org.uk, will make it simpler for supporters to see how they can practically get behind it and play their part in making our waterways sustainable for future generations.
Outdoor swimming is growing in popularity but there is less than 4 percent of rivers across England and Wales where recreational users such as swimmers can participate without fear of confrontation or challenge because access to over 96% of rivers has been disputed for more than 60 years and the situation is getting worse.
Ben Seal, Places to Paddle Manager, said: “It is 20 years since the CRoW Act granted access to our mountains and moors, now is the time we need paddlers, swimmers and all outdoor enthusiasts to help get behind our campaign, and really champion the case for fair, shared access on all our waters.”
“We need our supporters to lobby, shout, share and care and the new website is a tangible way for everyone who enjoys rivers and other waterways to get behind the campaign, by using the clearaccessclearwaters.org.uk website.”
There are four easy ways to support the Clear Access, Clear Waters campaign:
- Sign the petition and email or tweet your MP
- Become a supporter or campaigner
- Organise and plot your paddle cleanup
- Spread the word and encourage others to do the same
