The Lakes of the UK are supporting Level Water for a second year! On 14th and 15th August swimmers are invited to take part in ‘Lakes For Level Water’, a fundraising swimming challenge at participating open water lakes across the country.
Participants are asked to set their challenge distance (1, 3, 5, or 10km), book their slot at a participating lake, and raise money for our charity partner Level Water (who give children with disabilities a great start in swimming).
Lakes for Level Water is a national event partnering with dozens of lakes around the UK, and supported by The Outdoor Swimming Society.
WHEN: Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th August 2020
WHERE: Participating lakes (see the list on the Level Water website)
DISTANCE: 1km, 3km, 5km, 10km, or choose your own
This event will run within Government guidelines so will not be a mass participation event with mass starts. The swim will be organised the same way as your usual lake swims with reduced numbers, staggered starts and social distancing.
Swimmers are asked to book a slot at participating open lakes and set up a JustGiving page to raise funds (and be in with a chance of winning a prize). Level Water are asking swimmers to aim to raise £50. Participating lakes are available all over the country, including:
If you run a lake and would like to be part of this challenge, but are not yet on the list, please get in touch with email@example.com
Level Water needs your help now so they can restart bespoke swimming lessons for children with disabilities when pools re-open their doors. Funds raised will support Level Water, The OSS, and the swimming lake, with the fundraising divided in the following way: 70% to Level Water, 20% to the participating lake, and 10% to The Outdoor Swimming Society.
Visit the Level Water website for the full event details and to grab your slot (quickly!).
The event is being supported by the following organisations, who are also providing fundraising prizes:
