SWIM WILD

18th January, 2019

Jack Hudson, the younger brother of the Wild Swimming Brothers, introduces their 2018 film Swim Wild
“Swim Wild was filmed in some of the Lake District’s more popular waters – Buttermere, Windermere and the River Rothay. It tells the story of myself and my two brothers, right from our first adventure together – how we ran to the hills to escape our urban nine-to-fives and jumped into the peaty source of the River Eden and followed its course all the way to its mouth at the Solway Firth. Since then we’ve swum across three maelstroms (the Corryvreckan, Saltstraumen and Moskstraumen – read more in the OSS feature Into The Maelstrom), swum the length of Loch Broom and crossed the Hellespont from Europe to Asia.
“We’re just lightly rippling the surface of what wild swimming does for the mind and body. In the meantime I hope this film encourages viewers to keep on escaping the common traps and widely-distributed normalities of everyday life. And that it serves as a reminder that our limits have not been set. Enjoy! And Happy Wild Swimming…” Jack Hudson.
