On the shores of the Cove, in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, photographer Niall Meehan swims every day with the Swimrise crew. Sometimes alone, but mostly as a group, they take to the water at sunrise.
Niall’s sea photography began with visually journalling his daily swims, recording the conditions on any given morning. It progressed to producing personal images then expanded to a desire to connect on an emotional and experiential level with the viewer – @humansofswimrise was born, where the attention is focused on an individual swimmer who gives an account of their swimming experience.
