The OSS and Kendal Mountain Festival launch their dedicated swim session

Cameras (and train tickets to Kendal) at the ready! We are delighted to announce that the Kendal Mountain Festival is launching and Outdoor Swimming session this year, hosted by the Outdoor Swimming Society and supported by Alpkit.

Kendal Mountain Festival, 17-21 November, is the UK’s leading mountain film festival, with a diverse range of speakers, athletes and films providing the backdrop for a social gathering for mountain enthusiasts.

The new Outdoor Swimming Session will be joining popular existing Sessions for bike, climbing and endurance sports. The session will be dedicated to the joys of outdoor swimming: in lakes, the rivers and the sea. There will be speakers, interviews and films – exploring where, why and how we swim outdoors. From epic feats of endurance, to the coldest swims, to simply going for a dip – it will encompass all that outdoor swimmers love.

Films will form a key part of the session and we’d love to see your work! To submit your film for consideration, please email a Vimeo link to info@mountainfest.co.uk. “Our simple guideline is that it should be about swimming and we recommend film length to be no longer than 15 minutes,'” says Steve Scott from Kendal Mountain Festival.

Kendal Mountain Festival also invite you to submit your films to their international film competition via Film Freeway . Admin entry fee is £25, full details are on the Film Freeway site.

The weekend in Kendal hosts thousands of visitors from home and overseas, hundreds of film screenings including high-profile premières plus plenty of special guests. Please join us there if you can.

The session is supported by Alpkit.
