THE SAS AUTUMN BEACH CLEAN: SUMMIT TO SEA

07th August, 2019

After the success of The Big Spring Beach Clean this year, Surfers Against Sewage have launched their biggest ever Autumn Beach Clean since the first event in 2011. Over 20,000 volunteers are expected at 500 events across the UK as part of the ‘Plastic Free Communities’ movement. The OSS are proud to be a community partner for the SAS this year and are calling for volunteers to join the event being held between 19th-27th October 2019.

Over the last few years, the Autumn Beach Clean has seen 1,419 cleans organised, mobilising 50,033 volunteers to clear 114,341kg of plastic pollution from beaches and rivers across the UK to date. But organisers are hoping that this year will be bigger and better than ever before.

The event is a continuation of the Summit To Sea initiative, so if you don’t live close to the sea, you can still help by removing pollution from mountain areas or in urban environments. So why not gather some friends and join a beach clean or organise one in your local community!
