Getting warm, dry and changed quickly is often imperative after swimming outdoors. There are a number of different products on the market and we checked out a range of towel robes that are great for summer outdoor swimming adventures.
Finisterre kit is ‘born from needs of hardy British surfers’ and equally well loved by cold water swimmers now. This towel is supersoft, fluffy and absorbent, dries quickly, and has a ‘strong sense of style’. Now we know how zebras must feel next to less dashing members of the horse family.
The original (and still the best?) changing robe from Robie Robes, helping you keep warm, dry and covered, protecting your modesty whilst changing. Designed in Cornwall and made from the highest quality Turkish cotton, the robes are 100% cotton velour on the outside and super-cosy towelling on the inside. It’s a generous cosy cut.
We’ve been waiting for someone to make these! The Driathlon is a changing robe made of durable microfibre towelling, so it’s light but also gets you dry really quickly.
Although it doesn’t offer the same level of warmth or weather protection as some other changing products, we like the fact that it can be rolled up and secured with its own elastic strap, and then chucked in your kit bag where it takes up minimal space.
The fit is comfortable without being overly baggy, so you don’t feel as though you are wearing a sack. Deep front pockets keep hands dry and warm.
The towel robe, dryrobe, was designed by surfers to allow room to change easily, while fully covered and protected from the elements so you can get your kit off and back on without over-exposing yourself. Made from medium-weight 350gsm cotton for faster drying, this robe is available in red, blue, black, pink and grey with an embroidered logo on the front.
A lovely light summer alternative to the traditional dryrobe.
The Booicore robe is made from 100% / 400g cotton towelling with a front top-opening pocket to keep your hands cosy and store bits and pieces. It has a nice big Jedi-like hood to hide under too.
