OSS partners with SAS on Big Spring Beach Clean
28th January, 2019
The Outdoor Swimming Society is delighted to to be a Community Partner for the Surfers Against Sewage Big Spring Beach Clean. Get some swimmers, and get some rubbish….
The Big Spring Beach Clean runs from 6-14th April in 2019, taking a “summit to sea” approach – with volunteers asked to tackle waste on mountains, in streets and in rivers ends up in on our coastlines and in our oceans.
Since 2010, SAS beach cleans have removed 152,741kg of marine litter from the UK’s coastline, the majority of which is plastics.
Veteran campaigners SAS (Surfers Against Sewage) and programmes like Blue Planet II have succeeded in putting marine plastic pollution firmly on the public and political agenda.
If you’re ready to help, visit the SAS site to join other beach cleans, or organise your own (more on this in coming weeks).
