Wild Mum – a play about swimming and grief on stage in London

20th September, 2019

Wild swimming yet again provides rich material for playwrights with Wild Mum by Martha Watson Allpress beginning its run in London.

The play focuses on siblings Lauren and George who have recently lost their mother and deals with the themes of grief, family and the healing power of water.

It is being staged at Upstairs at the Gatehouse as part of a double bill of 30 minute plays by the writer on Tuesday 24th September. The audience will have to opportunity to provide feedback on the show on the night.

Inspired by her own experiences of wild swimming Martha says: “It’s something my Mum took up a few years ago, and brought me along for the ride; it changed my life. I think water has such a beautiful, calming quality on people, and I wanted to try and write something about that.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 and are available from the Upstairs at the Gatehouse website.
